The Jonas Brothers are going on their first world wide concert tour. This is a huge step for them as artists. Just two years ago, these boys were trying to make it in the music business. Now, they are one of the most famous bands of our time. They have countless hit songs, sold millions of copies of their last two albums and made an impact in the television industry. I chose this because it shows that anyone can do anything when they put their mind to it. The Jonas Brothers love their music. They work hard to give their fans what they want by doing what they love. For them to be going on a world tour shows just how popular and big they have become.

Assignment 35- Senior Final Exam

Last Memory of a Senior

My last memory of high school is the fun I've had this past week. Since it is my last week at Piper, I am trying to make the best of it. I am going to remember this week for the rest of my life. My friends and I are having a great time living it up at school. This week, my best friends and I went around the school getting all of our old friends to sign our yearbook. I love reading what everyone wrote and reminiscing on the last four years. I am going to miss Piper so much. That is why I am trying to have fun. I want to leave school remembering all the good times I had at my home away from home. I am taking a million pictures with all of my friends and teachers. I don't want to forget any of the amazing people I met at this school. I am also reliving the best memories I had at Piper. I love living the past over again. We walked around school visiting old teachers and sitting in their classrooms like we were their students again. We played hide-and-seek after school like we used to do in our sophomore year. It was so much fun to pull all those crazy missions and be carefree with my friends this week. This week has been one to remember. I've had the best times with my friends. Because of them, I will always remember Piper as my home away from home.

Sis Finds Long Lost Brother Across Street

After three decades, a brother is reunited with his long lost sister. The crazy part is that they lived across the street from each other for two and a half years before realizing that they were related. Candace Eloph was talking to one of her neighbors, Jamie Wheat, one afternoon. She told him that her mother had given up her baby son for adoption in 1977 when she was sixteen years old. Wheat told her that he was born on January 21, 1977 and that he was adopted because his sixteen year old mother had given him up. After this coincidence, the two took a blood test. The results showed that there was a 99.995% chance the they were related. The two, including there families, were ecstatic. After a thirty year search, the long lost siblings finally found each other, across the street nonetheless. I think this is interesting because of how the two found each other. It is sometimes common to find a long lost sibling. Rarely ever do you hear that they were neighbors. It is interesting how things work out.

Assignment 33- First Day of Freshman Year

My first day of freshman year was terrifying. I was so scared of coming to a new school. I am the type of person that doesn't like change. So the transition from middle school to high school was very difficult for me. The first day of 9th grade, I was late to my first class. I walked in alone and my teacher told the whole class to stare at me because I came 20 minutes after class had begun. I was so embarrassed. I had to sit in the back by myself because all the other seats were taken. The rest of my classes were just as scary. I was too shy to make any friends that first day. I ate lunch with an old friend from middle school, but we didn't have a class together so I had to endure the rest of the day alone. For my first day, I definitely would change the fact that I came late to school and had my whole class staring at me. I also should have been more out there so I could make friends faster. Things definitely did not turn out the way I had imagined it at that time. I thought I would have been alone throughout my high school years because I was so anti-social. Now, I have the greatest friends in the world. I do not regret anything from that first day of my high school years up until now. Everything I went through made me love my high school years more than anything. I have the best memories from Piper and I would not change that for anything else.

Assignment 34- Where in the world would you like to visit?

I would love to go to Europe. I have always wanted to visit Europe ever since I began learning about the history. I would like to visit the historical landmarks, such as the Colesseum in Rome and the Eiffel Tower in France. Backpacking throughout Europe would be awesome. I would get to learn more about the history and actually see where it occured. I would also like to see how people in those countries live compared to the United States. I think a trip to Europe would be amazing.

Assignment 31- First Day of School...Ever!

My first day of school is still fresh in memory. I lived in New York at the time and I was going to PS 100 for kindergarten. My mom took me to school and we looked for my name on the wall to tell me which teacher I had. Then, we had to go to the basketball court where everyone had to line up with their classmates. That is when my mom had to leave me. I remember crying my eyes out because I never left my mom's side before that day. My teacher, Ms. Guida, walked my class and I up five flights of stairs to our classroom. She sat us down at tables in groups of 4. That is when I met my best friend, Anasheri, and two really close friend Ricardo and Eric. That first day was sad for me because I missed my mom. But I still enjoyed it because I made really good friends who made me feel so comfortable.

Joe Jonas Hits Back At Taylor Swift

Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift broke up last year. They were a hot, young Hollywood couple, bringing no surprise to their split. Swift says Jonas broke up with her in a 27 second phone call. Jonas however claims that the only reason the call was so short was because Swift hung up on him before he could say anything else. Now, about a year later, the drama behind the breakup is still fueling. On her 2008 album Fearless, Taylor Swift recorded a song called Forever and Always, which is believed to be about Joe. The song talks about the pain Taylor felt when she and her boyfriend broke up. In retaliation, the Jonas Brothers released a song a few days ago called Paranoid. This songs is in reference to an ex girlfriend which everyone believes to be about Taylor. I think this is interesting because the two say they do not want anything to do with each other, yet they are acting like children with these songs and interviews. There still must be some feelings between the two if they are constantly trying to be noticed by the other. I also think this is interesting because the Jonas Brothers already went through an issue like this with one of the other brothers and his ex girlfriend. Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus were also a hot, young Hollywood couple. After their breakup, Miley released a song called 7 Things. The song talks about an ex boyfriend and the 7 things she hates about him. Everyone also believed this song is about Nick. I think its interesting how the brothers are going through the same drama in the same way, through song.

Spongebob Squarepants is the lovable, quirky, yellow sponge from the hit Nickelodeon show. The show has been running for 10 years now. The show is about a sponge named Spongebob Sqaurepants who lives under the sea in Bikini Bottom. In each episode, Spongebob lives his life as an optimistic, energetic little sponge with his good friends and neighbors: Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, Mr. Krabs and Gary. I chose Spongebob Sqaurepants because he is a lovable character. His show is one of the biggest cartoons on television. It has been successfully running for 10 years. The show is funny and allows grown kids like me to relive my childhood when I watch it.

Assisgnment 27- Free Post

Happiness is something anyone can have, at any time, for free. Life is crazy. Everyone has to deal with its ups and downs everyday. But to keep ones self going, they should be happy. Happiness is a wonderful feeling. There are so many things you can do to be happy. Being with the people you love, doing what you enjoy, anything can bring happiness. To me, happiness is important in life. I have gone through so much lately. But through it all, I have remained as happy as I can be. I know that life is too short to waste on being upset and focused on the negativity everyday brings. When you're truly happy, you get this overwhelming sensation that no other feeling can compare to. And not only are you happy, but those around you will be happy. The best part about happiness is that its free to give and to get. Living your life the way you want to and being with who makes everything worthwhile brings pure, true happiness.

I am afraid of dying.

I just have to face the facts that death is inevitable. I have to live my life up as much as I can and not worry about "the end".

Not really. Death happens to everyone and there is nothing anyone can do about it so I just have to live my life to the fullest.

Assignment 23- Tell A Story

Harry, Ron and Hermione are first year students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry and Ron, rather than trying to learn magic, are having too much fun exploring the amazing castle. This does not please the over-achieving Hermione, especially when they ask her to help them catch up in their classes. Hermione reluctantly agrees to help her friends. She demonstrates on how to change a cat into a cup. Ron was dumbfounded. His lack of attention in class made him unaware of the possibility of transferring objects into something completely different. Harry tried to remain calm and acted like he understood. Hermione was still agitated as they asked over and over how to do the spell. It took some time, but the boys finally got down the basics and we able to past their first exams as wizards.

Assignment 21- Something Red

In the Twilight saga, Stephanie Meyers uses pictures to depict what is going on in the books. On each book, there is something red. Twilight has a red apple, New Moon has a flower, Eclipse has a red ribbon and Breaking Dawn has a red chess piece. The apple represents the forbidden fruit, which symbolizes the forbidden love between Edward and Bella. The flower does not have an actual meaning. The red ribbon shows how Bella is breaking ties between her and the human world. The red chess piece shows Bella in her vulnerable human form then becoming a vampire which is depicted by a queen chess piece. I chose this because I think it is clever how the author chooses to portray the hidden message in her books. When you first look at the books, you do not understand why she chose the images that she did. But after you read them, you understand the meaning behind each picture. I think the art is red because the book is about vampires so it must have something to do with blood. I think Stephanie Meyer did a good job in choosing these pictures for her books.

Assignment 22- Magazine Cover

The Jonas Brothers were on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine on August 4,2008. I chose this cover because it shows just how big and famous the band became in only a year's time. Just a year ago, the brothers were a struggling band trying to make it in the music business. Now, they are one of the biggest names in music. I also chose this cover because it shows that their fan base isn't just for preteen and teenage girls. They started out on Disney but now they are a worldwide sensation. They went from being on teenage magazines like J14 and Bop to Rolling Stone.

1. What is it ?

- I regret not going to the Best of the Best Reggae concert this year.

2. What can you do to get over your regret?

- Either buy a ticket now even though it is expensive or just keep listening to the music that I would have seen being performed at the concert.

- I wish I could have gone this year because last year it was amazing. The music was awesome and the performances were great. I'm sure they will be just as good this year.

After 25 years, classmates from Tamarac Elementary school find each other on Facebook. The old students haven't seen or heard from each other in decades. Through Facebook, the classes of 1977-1983 were able to reconnect. They are planning a joint reunion where 85 of the students will attend a barbecue at Tradewinds Park then go out for drinks at a Deerfield Beach Bar. I think this is interesting because it shows what a great impact the Internet can have. Without the Internet, these people might never have found each other again. It is cool,also, to be reunited with people you never thought you would see again, especially through Facebook.

Assignment 18- Tell A Story

"AAHHHHH!!!!", was all the Jonas Brothers heard as they exited their favorite restaurant after enjoying a nice lunch. As soon as the door opened, dozens of girls began to scream as the teen hear throbs left the Hibiscus restaurant last week. The boys, left without any security to protect them from the overexcited fans, ran for it. Even though they love their fans, Kevin Nick and Joe cannot handle hundreds of people trying to cling on to them, especially after having a big lunch. The boys ran down an alley towards the back of the restaurant. They sprinted towards their car, with the fans close behind. As Kevin drove off, Nick and Joe waved goodbye while trying to catch their breaths after outrunning one hundred screaming teenage girls.

Edward Cullen is absolutely extravagant! He is gorgeous and just perfect. What makes Edward particularly unique is not just the fact that he is a vampire but that he sparkles in the sun. That, I think, is pretty extravagant. The way he glistens in the sun as if thousands of diamonds are encrusted on his body is extraordinary. I can't find a picture to show how beautiful it is when he is in the sun. But, the way the sunlight hits him and his body looks like it is glowing is amazing.

Rubeus Hagrid
Rubeus Hagrid is a fictional character from the Harry Potter series. He is the gamekeeper of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I chose Hagrid because not only is he one of my favorite characters in the series, but he is also unusually large. Hagrid is a mixed with human and giant parentage. He is probably over 7 feet tall. Because he is half giant, Hagrid is very strong. When he was just 6 years old, Hagrid could carry his father. Hagrid keeps his parentage a secret because giants are known to be brutal creatures and were once followers of Lord Voldemort. However, Hagrid is one of the sweetest people in the books. He is very caring and funny and will do anything to protect those he loves. Even though he is so large, Hagrid is still a soft, sweet child-like person.

- I am looking forward to Prom.

Oakland Park robberies possible hate crimes, says Broward Sheriff

Robberies in Oakland Park are now considered to be hate crimes. Two men,who happen to be gay, were violently robbed on Oakland Park last week. On April 6, one man was attacked, beaten unconscious and robbed outside of a diner on East Oakland Park Boulevard. At about the same time, another man was was attacked, two miles from where the first incident occured. The Broward Sheriffs office is looking into these attacks to see if they are possible hate crimes. Crime Stoppers are offering a $4,000.00 reward to anyone with information on these attacks that can lead to the arrest of the suspect.

PBSO and state investigations launched in deaths of 21 horses in Wellington

Just before the U.S. Open polo tournament in Wellington, Florida, 21 horses die of a mysterious ailment. The 21 horses, worth about $2 million, all died quickly after experiencing dizziness and collapses. No one is sure what caused the death of these prized polo horses. On Monday, death investigations were opened by the investigators of Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The bodies of the horses were sent to the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine in Gainesville and a state laboratory in Kissimmee to be examined. Foul play and infectious diseases have been ruled out as a cause of death of the horses. Toxicity is the major suspected cause of death because of the rapidness of the sicknesses and deaths. Scientists plan on testing every substance ingested by the horses to determine what may have caused their deaths. Due to the amount of substances to be tested, results aren't expected for several weeks. These horses were not thought of a just racers, but as family. They will be dearly missed by the horse-loving community.

The Vatican City is the smallest state in the world. The country is about 0.2 square miles long with a population of about 700 non permanent residents. The city is surrounded by Rome, Italy. Vatican City is a sovereign and independent city-state. I chose Vatican City because it is the smallest country in the world. I think it is interesting that the city-state does not have any permanent residents, yet it is still prominent.

Edward and Bella were enjoying a lovely day in the meadow outside the town of Forks. Their intensely deep conversation was interrupted when Edward heard the thoughts of others rapidly approaching. Before Bella could ask what was wrong, Edward flung her on his back and dashed out of the meadow towards the woods. "They're coming. TheVolturi. They know we're together and they're not happy", Edward said as he sprinted west. "What?! Oh no, what are they going to do", Bella yelled, worry and fright taking over her. "Trust me Bella, you do not want to know what they are thinking. We need to get as far away from them as possible. Aro said if they do not find us soon they will return to Italy until another time. We have to go. Hold on tight!", Edward yelled. In the blink of an eye, Edward leaped into the air and clung to the very top of a tree branch. He swung like a primate from tree to tree as Bella held on for her life. Within minutes, they had made it to the end of the forest and hurriedly ran to their car to warn the others of the approaching disaster.

I chose this article because of the current state of the United States Economy. It seems as if history is repeating itself. The article describes the economy of America in the 1930s. The New Deal, instituted by President Roosevelt, was meant to help the economy. Today, President Obama has produced a stimulus package meant to help our economy. Both plans had the same purpose, however the same result is not yet known because the stimulus package hasn't had much of an impact. During the Great Depression, millions of people lost their jobs. The same is happening today. The unemployment increase was blamed on the decline of consumer spending, the same as it is today. Towards the "end" of the Depression, the United States entered into World War 2. Some saw the war as the factor that ended the Depression due to the increase in jobs and government spending. Right now, we are at war in the middle east. However, it is still very difficult to get and maintain a job. This article shows how history really does repeat itself. Many of the problems America faced back in the 1930s and the steps taken to try and resolve those issues are recurring today.

Bullet Fired Through Wall Hits Sleeping Man

An attempted robbery turns bad when a gunshot was fired, hitting a sleeping neighbor. The assailant knocked on the door of a Hollywood apartment and forced his way into the home when the resident opened the door. The resident fired at the intruder when he attempted to rob him. However, the sht missed the criminal and went through a wall, hitting a man who was sleeping in the other apartment. James Kopec, the neighbor who was hit, was shot in the face while he slept. The 60-year-old was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital where he is still in critical condition. The attempted robber fled the scene. Police are still looking for him. They have a description of the man: a black male between the ages of 25 and 35 with short dredlocks, about 300 pounds and between 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall. They are asking everyone for help in finding this man.
